I've joined PCMag as a Senior Writer. I'm the resident Windows whisperer, and I also cover other operating systems: ChromeOS, Linux, and Mac. Plus, I write about web browsers and other software. One billion pageviews and counting

With over a decade in tech service journalism, Chris has written thousands of informative and useful articles that have driven more than one billion page views to the publications he's written for.Currently, Chris is a Senior Writer covering software for PCMag. Prior to accepting that full-time role, he was an independent tech journalist contributing regularly to publications like PCWorld and writing The Windows ReadMe, a publication partnering with Thurrott.com.The Windows ReadMe is an independent continuation of Windows Intelligence, a publication Chris launched with The Intelligence in 2023, which had an associated weekly Computerworld column. Prior to launching Windows Intelligence, Chris Hoffman was Editor-in-Chief of How-To Geek.Chris took over as Editor-in-Chief of How-To Geek in 2019. Under his leadership, the website's traffic more than doubled. Traffic peaked at over 30 million unique visitors per month under his watch.In June 2023, How-To Geek was acquired by Valnet. Chris turned down a job offer from Valnet to continue running the site. Instead, he accepted an offer to found the Windows Intelligence newsletter.His work has appeared everywhere from The New York Times and PCWorld to the front page of Reddit. He wrote the USA's most-saved online article of 2021 according to Pocket.
